Troy High School’s bowling teams were back in action Tuesday night on the road at Beaver-Vu Bowl against Xenia, with the varsity girls remaining unbeaten while the other Trojan squads faced tough competition.
The varsity boys dropped a close match to Xenia, 2,182–2,077. Troy rolled games of 854 and 913 before posting a 148 baker and a 162 in the final game for their total. Kyle Wickman led the Trojans with a strong series of 226 and 201 for 427, while Caleb Young added 364 and Zadok Reeves contributed 351. Sam Swanson rolled 349 and Evan Schmidt chipped in 276 as Troy battled throughout the match. The varsity boys now sit at 4–3 on the season.
The varsity girls continued their impressive run, improving to 7–0 with a 1,967–1,765 victory over Xenia. Troy built a solid lead with team games of 836 and 782, then closed the match with a 142 baker and a 207 final game. Baylie Massingill paced the Trojans with a 376 series, highlighted by a 211 game. Libby Burghardt followed closely with 344, while Kari Hoover added 322 and Cora Coate posted 290. December Byrd and Hailee Overholser also contributed to the team effort as Troy stayed perfect on the year.
The JV boys fell to Xenia, 1,591–1,366, despite competitive individual efforts. Sylar Combs led Troy with a 273 series, while Carson King added 272 and Jaxson Frey chipped in 263. Arturo Martinez rolled 211 and Jackson Hermann contributed 142 as the Trojans fought through the match. The JV boys’ record now stands at 5–4.
The JV girls competed with just four bowlers and faced Beavercreek, coming up short in a 1,632–896 loss. Shelbie Dilbone led Troy with a 263 series, while Leah Ohls added 185. Blain Ayichew rolled 147 and Morgan Sibley contributed 116 as the Trojans gained valuable experience under challenging circumstances. The JV girls are now 0–6 on the season.
