The Troy High School Girls Bowling team competed at the District Tournament this past weekend at Beaver-Vu Bowl, finishing 14th out of 24 teams in a highly competitive field. Only the top five teams and top five individuals advanced to the State Tournament.
Troy opened competition with traditional game scores of 756, 756, and 790 for a three-game total of 2,302. The team stood in 12th place after the first game, slipped to 14th after the second, and climbed to 11th following the third game. During Baker competition, the Trojans posted games of 157, 175, 146, 115, 154, and 136 for a Baker total of 883, bringing their final overall score to 3,185 and placing them 14th overall at the conclusion of the tournament.
The day was highlighted by an outstanding individual performance from Baylie Massingill, who captured the Individual District Championship with a remarkable 708 series, rolling games of 235, 260, and 213. With her championship effort, Massingill earned All-Tournament Team honors and qualified to compete at the State Tournament next Saturday.
Additional contributions for Troy included Libby Burghardt with games of 172, 121, and 197 for a 490 series, Kari Hoover with scores of 117, 127, and 136 for a 380 series, and Cora Coate with games of 122 and 113 for 235. December Byrd and Hailee Overholser combined for a 135 game, Byrd added a 109, the duo posted a 110 in Baker play, and Overholser also contributed a 135.
Although the Trojans narrowly missed qualifying as a team, they demonstrated resilience throughout the day and competed at a high level against the district’s top programs.
