The Troy High School boys and girls swimming and diving teams captured the 2026 Miami Valley League Championships on January 30 at the league meet hosted at Centerville High School. Troy secured both team titles through consistent scoring across swimming and diving events, highlighted by multiple event victories, strong relay performances, and depth throughout the lineup.

In the girls’ standings, Troy finished first with 490.5 points, separating from second-place Vandalia Butler (389 points) and Tipp City Tippecanoe (281 points). On the boys’ side, Troy edged Vandalia Butler by a narrow margin, finishing with 463 points to Butler’s 461 in one of the closest finishes in recent league history.

The Troy girls established early momentum in the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Cassidy Gifford, Mackenzie Gifford, Claire Martin, and Aubrey Bass posted a time of 1:54.60, narrowly missing the league record while securing maximum team points. Troy continued its relay success later in the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:48.13, further solidifying its position atop the team standings.

Individually, Troy athletes contributed key victories and podium finishes throughout the girls’ events. Claire Martin earned the league title in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.93. Simone Scribner captured first place in one-meter diving, scoring 206.40 points to secure additional points for the Trojans. Troy swimmers also recorded multiple top-three finishes in sprint freestyle, distance freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke events, demonstrating balance across all disciplines.

Depth played a major role in Troy’s girls championship, with multiple swimmers advancing to scoring positions in finals and consolation heats. Troy entries consistently placed across events, limiting point swings by opposing teams and maintaining a steady accumulation of points throughout the meet.

The Troy boys mirrored that consistency on their way to the team championship. Troy opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and followed with strong performances across individual freestyle, individual medley, and butterfly events. Troy swimmers placed in key scoring positions in nearly every event, allowing the Trojans to remain within striking distance of Vandalia Butler throughout the meet.

A critical moment came in the relay events, where Troy’s finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay and other relays helped counter Butler’s event wins and maintain the overall team margin. The Troy boys’ relay squads provided essential points that ultimately made the difference in the final standings.

Across both programs, Troy benefited from contributions by swimmers from all class levels, including seniors, juniors, and underclassmen, reflecting the depth and continuity of the program. Multiple athletes competed in more than one event and advanced through preliminary rounds to score in finals, reinforcing Troy’s balanced team approach.

With the dual championships, Troy concluded the Miami Valley League season as the overall conference champion in both boys and girls swimming and diving. The results mark a significant accomplishment for the program and position Troy favorably heading into postseason competition.
