TROY, OH - - Troy Trojans Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Sowry as the new Varsity Softball Head Coach.

Sowry brings nine years of coaching experience to the position, including four years as an assistant coach at Miami East and has spent the past five years as a varsity assistant at Troy. Her familiarity with the program, student-athletes, and Troy community will allow her to provide continuity to the program while establishing her own vision for the future of Trojan Softball.

In addition to her coaching experience, Sowry is a second-grade teacher with Troy City Schools, currently at Kyle Elementary. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Urbana University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.

“We are excited to welcome Megan into this role,” Troy Athletic Director Brandon Wright said. “Her passion for softball, commitment to developing student-athletes and understanding of our school community stood out throughout the hiring process. Megan has a clear vision for building positive relationships, strengthening our team culture and developing the program from the youth level through varsity softball.”

Sowry plans to build upon the program’s recent success by emphasizing fundamentals, player development, and a team-first culture. She also hopes to strengthen connections with Troy’s recreational softball programs and create additional opportunities for young players to learn the game and develop a passion for Trojan Softball.

“I am incredibly excited to serve as the next head coach.” Sowry said. “The Troy community is a great place to work and coach. I look forward to building a softball program that reflects a positive team culture, a strong passion for the game, and accountability from the recreational league all the way through to the varsity level.”

The Troy community will have an opportunity to welcome Coach Sowry during a Meet the Coach Night on Wednesday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m in the Trojan Activity Center in Troy High School. Parents, student-athletes and community members are all invited to attend.
